Kelly Dixon

Welcome! I am Clinical Psychology Doctoral Resident/Intern at VA San Diego, specializing in PTSD and Behavioral Medicine. I completed my BA in Psychology and Gender/Health Studies at the University of Michigan, and my MA/PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

I identify strongly with a scientist-practitioner model of training, valuing evidence-based treatment and assessment as well as clinically-grounded empirical research. My primary research interests include culturally-specific posttraumatic sequalae among marginalized and displaced persons, PTSD treatment effectiveness, and improving access to global mental healthcare. Much of my work includes a specific focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion; please browse my website to learn more about my ongoing clinical, research, and service projects!

If you are interested in collaborating - let’s connect! I am excited about opportunities to work alongside scholars, clinicians, and community organizations to improve the wellbeing of global trauma survivors.

I prioritize health, sustainability, and balance by engaging in an active and social lifestyle. In my free time I enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, running half-marathons, and reviewing craft breweries with friends. I love to travel internationally, and have visited Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Japan, Nepal, India, Jordan, Palestine, Albania, Greece, Montenegro, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Germany, England, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Mexico. Social support in a demanding helping professional is paramount, and I am fortunate to be supported by my wonderful husband, David - and our three sweet fur babies!
